The Roaring 20's: Jazz, Prohibition & G-Men Webquest Overview: The 1920's was an interesting and exciting time. Jazz music provided the background music, women began rebelling against what had long been considered "proper ladylike behavior," alcohol was illegal, and most people were prospering in their personal lives. The Roaring 20's saw the beginning of organized crime and the "mafia" when the 20th amendment to the Constitution made alcohol illegal. This and many other interesting scenarios is what makes the Jazz Age so unique and interesting a time in our history. Task: You will use the websites provided here to guide your research. You will make a power point presentation and share what you learn. Be sure to include everything that is required. Be creative, use your imagination and best writing skills while you work! You MUST have slides on the following: - Biography of any ONE of the people in this webquest EXCEPT Zelda Fitzgerald
- Prohibition
- Jazz
- Radio's influence on American culture
- Flappers
- Zelda Fitzgerald (this is in addition to your biography slide)
- Harlem Renaissance
- A slide with your own poem (* I will give you more info on this later)
- One slide of your choice on something other than what was required (ex: baseball scandal, movies, etc.)
You may do more than one slide on each topic, these are simply the topics that you must include. Remember, slides do not look as interesting when they have too many words. Be sure to include lots of photos with captions. You will find plenty of photos by clicking here. You may also use google images or YAHOO! images. What info should you include? Tell the "meat" of the story. Leave out small or irrelevant details. I will give you a list of questions or keywords for each topic later that will further help you in your research.
